Who are you anyway?
Hi there, I’m Sara.
I started Creativity and Creative Expression to discuss all the things that interest me about creativity within business, life and the world.
Creativity is so important in our lives, but is so often dismissed as not worth bothering with, not worth our time to work on and something that warrants a pat on the head and a smile with a - “well done you…” phrase from well meaning people.
But, I disagree with this sentiment and want to change the perception, because, if you think about it, creativity and creative expression affects every aspect of our lives in some form or another, for example:
You’re running a business and you need to find a new way to reach your audience - how are you going to do it? - With a creative approach to marketing, so your marketing reflects who you are and what you stand for.
You’re a writer and you want to get your message across in a fun and expressive way that resonates - how are you going to do it? - Through creative expression and using your imagination to develop easy to understand concepts.
You’re a creative business owner but you don’t like doing the business side of things - how are you going to fix this? - by using your natural creativity in the business side to make it much more fun and engaging in a way that excites you.
And these are just a few small parts of life that involve us needing to find creative ways to solve an issue, lead a project, write a book, develop a concept or market our businesses.
My mission is to help people not only find that creative spark but nurture it so it becomes a huge flame and benefits their business, writing, or any other aspect of life.
What’s Your Background?
I’ve spent much of my career in marketing. I started as a content and copywriter and moved from there into marketing and marketing strategy. Alongside this, I’ve always been a writer and write historical fiction novels set in the Second World War that focus on women’s lives and what they endured.
The fascination for these women stems from my own time as an Army wife (and now Army mother) for 22 years. The difference being that I had much more modern conveniences and privileges than they did, but, even with this, it still remains one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. And, it’s this that fascinates me about these women - that they had to endure all that but also had so many other difficulties to contend with too.
What’s Happening Now?
I’ve been running my own business for a few years now and recently pivoted my business model to that of a Creativity Coach. So, I now offer creative marketing coaching, creative writing coaching and general creative coaching for people who want support to develop something creatively, find ways to be productive, get rid of blocks, come up with concepts, or just have someone who is on your side.
Aside from this, I’m working on my latest novel, which focuses around a land girl and a murder. I’m also making plans to write some creativity focused non-fiction books but how these will look I haven’t decided yet.
